OVERVIEW

Managers and supervisors are often asked to facilitate rather than train/coach or manage their meetings and training sessions. This course focuses on facilitation as a core leadership ideal and recognises it as a competency everybody needs. With its focus on asking rather than telling, and listening to build consensus for groups and team, this skill has the capacity to change how work is organised and managed.

This course is essential in many different areas of management, coaching and training and will help individuals how to manage and facilitate difficult situation in group work and team development so as to get the task/ project completed in the best way possible so everyone feels valued and relevant.

REQUIREMENTS

This course has been designed for:

  • Individuals who have obtained a Special Purpose Certificate in Training and Development (6S3372) and want to work on developing their skills as a new trainer/ facilitator.
  • Those that jobs require them to facilitate team meetings within an organisation and want to explore how to managing this work / programme of activity so that the process is streamlined
  • Want to become confident in facilitation, training and developing interaction and presentation skills

CONTENT

INDICATIVE CONTENT

  • Understanding the role of a facilitation and competencies needed to be effective within a team/ group
  • Understanding the theory behind groups, types of groups, stages of team development, group norms and best practice, with the objective of getting the most from the team/group and develop an effective team processes
  • Being able to distinguish facilitation from instruction and training
  • Using common process tools to make meetings easier and more productive including the language of facilitation, how to facilitating an open discussion and still stick to agenda and how to listen for common ground and sustainable agreements to support interventions and conflict management
  • The Role of analytical tools assessment in facilitation
