OVERVIEW
Anger is a universal and human experience. You don’t have to be a psychologist to know that managing anger productively is something few individuals, organisations, and societies do well. Yet research tells us that those who do manage their anger at work are much more successful than those who don’t. This course will help learners to recognise the signs of anger, provide techniques to help manage behaviour and interactions with customers and co-workers in a more positive and effective manner. The co-worker who can productively confront his teammate about his negative attitude increases his team’s chance of success as well as minimises destructive conflicts. The customer service agent who can defuse the angry customer not only keeps her customers loyal but makes her own day less troublesome.

- Understand and be able to recognise how anger affects our bodies, our minds, and our behaviour.
- Understanding the rile of thoughts, feelings attitudes to our mental wellbeing.
- Be better able to use the six-step method to break old patterns and replace them with a model for assertiveness and expressing anger in a positive way.
- Express feelings appropriately and coping with negative thoughts to prevent a build-up of frustration.
- Identifying individual anger “pay-offs”.
- Be better able to control your own emotions when faced with other peoples’ anger.
- Be better able to identify ways to help other people safely manage some of their repressed or expressed anger.
- Techniques for a positive turn around in how we see anger – e.g., Identifying distorted thoughts,
- Self-Care including relaxation techniques, staying calm when you have to deal with issues developing a personal sanctuary.

PROGRESSION
This course will allow participants to improve their ability to effectively address and manage any situations of anger that may occur within the organisation. Participants have gone on to complete many of the management accredited courses at QQI Level 6 including Business Management, HR and Conflict Management.
