OVERVIEW

Delegation is often one of the hardest skills for a manager to master. However, this skill can be learned. Within this course, we will explore many of the facets of delegation: when to delegate, and who to delegate to. You will also go through the delegation process step by step, to see where the pitfalls lie, and what we can do about getting around them.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Persons who are responsible for managing a team of employees and must be able to effectively delegate the workload.
  • Persons who wish to improve their delegation skills.

  • Understanding the role of delegation within organisations and the necessity of why managers need to delegate
  • Clearly identify how delegation fits into your job and how it can make you more successful (self-assessment – Test your delegation skills)
  • The Practicalities – Picking the right person, the delegation meeting, levels of authority, giving instructions, identifying different ways of delegating tasks
  • Use an eight-step process for effective delegation
  • Communication skills – Use an eight-step process for effective delegation; giving better instructions for better delegation results; asking better questions and listen more effectively.
  • Monitoring delegation and giving feedback
  • Recognise common delegation pitfalls and how to avoid them – Practicing delegation and becoming a good delegator

PROGRESSION

This course will allow participants to improve their delegating skills. Starting off with a self-assessment, learners will understand the areas within the delegation skillset that they are strong at and what they need to work on. This course systematically takes learners through all the skills and techniques to help managers/supervisors become excellent delegators. Participants have gone on to complete many of the finance and management accredited courses at QQI Level 6. Contact our coaching department for help with an individual progression plan.
