OVERVIEW
This Entrepreneurship course is a minor award, specifically designed to support the potential entrepreneur to understand the theory and concept of entrepreneurship with a view to taking on the attributes and skills needed to become an entrepreneur in today’s business environment. Areas covered also include the theory, entrepreneurship qualities and skills and attributes. It will cover Intrapreneurship, and innovation within a larger organisation, as well as learning how to self-assess. Central to this role is understanding businesses, pivoting and the importance of adopting an innovative approach within different types of businesses/ social contexts.
REQUIREMENTS
- Individuals who have an interest in planning a new venture or project and may wish to pursue it as a career.
- Persons who have management and development responsibilities in organisations and have the potential to be Entrepreneurs’ within the larger organisation.
- Individuals and teams Undertaking and Managing a Strategic Project using an Entrepreneurial approach.
- People who wish to gain a formal qualification in Entrepreneurship

- Theory and history of entrepreneurship and its impact on the business
- Understanding the skill set – development of the entrepreneur
- The Practicalities
- Funding and accessing other resources within the sector for new venture
- Undertaking and managing strategic projects using an entrepreneurial approach

ASSESSMENT
- Project – 50%
- Skills Demonstration – 50%
METHOD OF DELIVERY/DURATION
- Three options – Classroom, Blended and In-house.
- Delivered over 120 hours (including independent study and assessment).
- Delivered over 5 days/8 mornings
COST
€495 per course, reductions for doing 2 or more courses. Further reduction in doing the full major award (Certificate in Advanced Business Management (6M4985) or integration of modules. Grants are also available.
PROGRESSION
Upon successful completion of this programme, the learner will be able to understand the theory and concept of entrepreneurship along with the attributes and skills needed to become an entrepreneur in today’s business environment. Mapped onto the NQF at level 6, you may use this module as a minor award towards gaining a full major award in many different Level 6 programmes including Certificate in Advanced Business Management (6M4985). . This Certificate will enable you to progress to other programmes at level 6 or higher including colleges and higher education providers.
