OVERVIEW
The QQI Level 6 Group Work Theory and Practice (6N3669) course is designed for those who wish to be trained as Facilitators.
Learners will gain the necessary skills and competencies required to help them facilitate teams /groups get the best from sessions, resulting in effective team and organisational dynamics. This practical course will help the learner understand the elements of group dynamics and engage with the theory and practice of facilitation and co-facilitation in group work in a professional organisational, social or community setting, ultimately equipping them to become a professional and effective facilitator. This course is an excellent addition for learners who have completed the QQI Special Purpose Certificate in Training and Development (6S3372) and need to explore further the role of facilitation to enhance this skill in order to get the best from groups and teams in different settings.
REQUIREMENTS
- Individuals who have an interest in working in groups within a facilitation role in different settings from health care to organisational project work.
- Individuals and teams involved in working in projects/organisational tasks and want to develop the skill of facilitation and co-facilitation within groups.
- Managers and team leaders who wish to gain an insight into group dynamics and advance a project/task through a smooth and seamless process.
- Individuals may be qualified in another discipline including those that may have training and development responsibilities in organisations and want to add to this remit through advanced facilitation skills and group dynamics.

- Three options – Classroom, Blended and In-house
- Delivered over 120 hours (including independent study and assessment)
- Delivered over 5 days/8 mornings.
COST

PROGRESSION
Upon successful completion of this programme, the learner may use this module as a stepping-stone to help in the progression route towards gaining a full major award in many different Level 6 programmes on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
This award is a progression from the QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development to help them further understand the role of facilitation in Training and Development. Alternatively, the learner may be eligible to apply to progress to the next or higher levels of the NFQ with a higher education provider.
