OVERVIEW

The Psychology (5N0754) minor QQI award aims to introduce learners to psychology as a science, psychological perspectives in everyday life as well as an introduction to psychological disorders. On completion the learner will have a general understanding as well as the knowledge, skills, and capacity to understand psychological processes and a deeper better understanding of psychology and how it relates to themselves and others in a range of contexts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Individuals who have an interest in psychology and may wish to pursue it as a career
  • Persons who have people management responsibilities in organisations.
  • People who wish to gain a formal qualification in Psychology.
  • Managers and team leaders who wish to gain an insight into Psychological Perspectives and the understanding of individual and group behaviour in organisations and different settings.

  • Understanding psychological perspectives and traditional therapeutic Interventions.
  • A deeper understanding of us as individuals and group behaviour.
  • Ethical considerations in different therapies and coaching. •Boundaries and responsibilities.
  • Research Methods and Ethical Issues involved in the study of psychology.
  • Application of the skills/ knowledge to typical work-based problems.
  • Psychology and its role in Coaching – ourselves and others.

CERTIFICATION

QQI Level 5 – Psychology 5N0754

ASSESSMENT

  • Assignment (x2) 60%
  • Examination Theory 40%

METHOD OF DELIVERY/DURATION

  • Three options – Classroom, Blended and In-house.
  • Delivered over 120 hours (including independent study and assessment).
  • Delivered over 5 days/8 mornings.

COST

€350, with reductions for doing 2 or more courses to reach the full major award or integration of modules.

PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion of this programme, the learner will possess the knowledge, skills and capacity to understand psychological processes for themselves and others. This course is mapped onto the NQF at level 5, you may use this module as a minor award towards gaining a full major award in many different Level 5 programmes. This course is compulsory for those wanting to undertake Emotional Coaching in order to understand themselves and others in a cognitive and psychological way.
