This Work Experience QQI Minor Level 6 Award aims to provide a learner with the relevant knowledge, skills and competence to prepare for, undertake and evaluate a work placement of no less than 10 days or 60 hours which would take place within their vocational area. An element of supervisory duties must also be incorporated into the work placement.

The objectives of the course include
- To facilitate the learner to analyse the changing nature of work in a chosen field, focusing on how outside sources such as the economy, demographic change, technologies, education and training affect these changes.
- To enable the learner to understand workplace legislation and the rights and responsibilities of employees/employers.
- To enable the learner to investigate a specific field of work, examining the skillsets and knowledge required to practice in this particular field.
- To facilitate the learner to plan and prepare for a period of work placement within a specific field and to attain a level of supervisory skills.
- To facilitate the learner to take part in a period of work placement which will include working at a level that will involve supervisory duties.
- To enable the learner to reflect on the work experience and to encourage the learner to demonstrate autonomy for their learning.

- Skills Demonstration (40%)
METHOD OF DELIVERY/DURATION
- Three options – Classroom, Blended and In-house.
- Delivered over 120 hours (including independent study and assessment)
- Delivered over 5 days/8 mornings.
COST
€495 per course, reductions for doing 2 or more courses. Further reduction in doing the full major award (Certificate in Advanced Business Management (6M4985) or integration of modules. Grants are also available.
PROGRESSION
This course allows the learner to complete a period of work experience in a particular field that they have an interest in, and creates opportunities for new employment. Mapped onto the NQF at level 6, you may use this module as a minor award towards gaining a full major award in many different Level 6 programmes, including the Certificate in Advanced Business Management (6M4985). This Certificate will enable you to progress to other programmes at level 6 or higher including colleges and higher education providers.
